"When it came to flowers, I had ideas for the ceremony room, the pool, the reception, the desserts in the dining room, and it didn't seem as though I could achieve it all–unless I did it myself.  I knew the only way to do my own wedding flowers was to work in dried florals, which spoke to the chalky look of the estate and our Art Nouveau inspirations. It also allowed me to pre-make all of the arrangements, but this proved to be the most challenging aspect of the process. What I thought I could accomplish so easily on my own, turned into me trying to master the art of dried florals in about two weeks. I had to source dried blooms from all over the country, as they are limited, completely seasonal and incredibly hard to work with. Dried blooms don't flourish like regular flowers. What I thought might take me a weekend turned into two weeks of day and night labor–and a team of bridesmaids and groomsmen gathering at the house at odd hours for crafty solutions and floral wine parties. The tables became a beautiful, happy accident. They completely achieved that scattered, regal, fragile, bohemian look I was going for and the entire bridal party took pride in what we created. One of my bridesmaids, Katie Baldwin, owns an organic farm that grows and dries flowers, so she wired in the floral ceremony arbor (for hours!) creating a beautiful piece of art."
